General Information about the Guest House Near San Casciano in Val di Pesa:

The setting and location: The guest house is located on a large agricultural estate, owned by my client, a cooperative which is dedicated to organic farming. It is at the end of a 1/2 mile-long private gravel road in the beautiful, open country of the Chianti wine region. It is about 11 miles south of Florence and about 22 miles north of Siena. Groceries and other miscellany are available a short walk (about 1/2 mile) from the guest house. The large town of San Casciano in Val di Pesa (about 4 miles) offers complete grocery shopping, restaurants, cafes, banks and other services. Some services are also available in Bargino, a small village about two miles away which includes a wonderful taste of "old Italy" in the local general store and cafe. The management: The guest house is managed by the staff of the cooperative, which also maintains a small conference building next to the swimming pool. Members of the staff are often there working, and they are available if you have questions. They speak excellent English and offer cooking courses, sight-seeing tours, etc.

Description of the Guest House: The guest house is about 80 years old and has been completely redone with beautiful tiles, exposed wood beams, central heating, etc. It is divided into five apartments, each of which is equipped with a modern kitchen or kitchenette and bathroom(s). Each apartment has a full complement of kitchen equipment (no dishwashers) and is otherwise completely and tastefully furnished.

Apartment 1, on the first (ground) floor, has approximately 750 square feet and sleeps six. It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two twin beds; a large living room with a fireplace and a double bed sleeper couch; a separate kitchen; and two bathrooms, each with a shower.

Apartment 2, on the second floor, has approximately 720 square feet and sleeps six. It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with three twin beds; living room with a single bed sleeper couch; a separate kitchen; and bathroom with a shower.

Apartment 3, on the second floor, has approximately 580 square feet and sleeps six. It has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two twin beds; living room with a kitchenette and a double bed sleeper couch; and bathroom with a shower.

Apartment 4, on the first (ground) floor, has approximately 500 square feet and sleeps four. It has one bedroom, with a double bed; living room with a kitchenette, fireplace and a double bed sleeper couch; and a bathroom, with a shower.

Apartment 5, on the second floor, has approximately 360 square feet and sleeps two. It is a studio apartment, with a large living room with a double bed sleeper couch; a separate kitchen; and bathroom with a shower.

Terms of rental: Weekly rents range from €600 to €1,200, depending on the apartment and the season. There are no extra charges for utilities. Clean linen and towels are provided weekly. A clothes washer is available for a modest charge. All resident guests have pool privileges. The pool is open from about May 15 until about September 30. The rental period runs from Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning. Once you let me know a specific rental period in which you are interested, I will check availability with my client. Payment terms are a 30% (of the total rent) non-refundable payment at the time of booking with the non-refundable balance due 60 days before scheduled arrival. Payment is to be made in advance to me, and I will transfer it to my client.

Group/Seminar Facilities: My client also has a small conference building with one very large room and a large kitchen next to the swimming pool. This conference building is available for rental by groups for seminars/workshops. In this conference building, my client also operates a small restaurant, offering excellent, organic, traditional Tuscan meals at modest prices.
