General Information About the Three Bedroom, Two Bathroom Provençal Farmhouse Near Graveson (between Avignon and Arles):
The setting and location: The farmhouse is located a few miles from the charming, un-touristed, “very French” town of Graveson, with shops, restaurant and café arranged along a central square lined in old plane trees, a canaled stream running through the middle. Graveson is about ten miles south of Avignon, with its famous medieval bridge (you may remember learning the French children’s song, “Sur le pont d’Avignon” in elementary school), palace (with museum) and cathedral, which was the seat of the “pretender” popes of the 13th Century. The Luberon and Van Gogh’s Arles, with its Roman amphitheater, are each about 15 miles away, while les Baux de Provence and St. Remy are even closer.
The Farmhouse: The spacious 18th Century stone farmhouse was recently restored, is very tastefully furnished and has about 1275 square feet. A very large and beautifully situated swimming pool, screened by flowering shrubs, is located behind the now mostly unused barn and has its own pool house with showers, sinks and toilet. There is an apricot orchard across the driveway and fields of grain and small woods are in the middle distance. My clients, the owners, live in other half of the house (separated vertically, in a townhouse style). They are very respectful of privacy while at the same time being very helpful and friendly.
Ground floor: Entering though double glass doors, there is a large, fully-furnished kitchen, with conventional and microwave ovens, dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer and a breakfast table. There is also a large living room with fireplace, a separate large dining room, also with double glass doors onto the private terrace, a bathroom with toilet, sink and shower and another bathroom with toilet and sink. Outside there is a large (about 1800 square feet) private terrace with a large table, benches and chairs and barbecue. Beautiful potted flower arrangements, vines and huge, shady old trees make the terrace a real pleasure.
Upper floor: Upstairs, there are three bedrooms, the first with a queen-size bed and a twin bed, the second with two twin beds and the third with a queen-size bed. The third bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom. A bathroom with a bathtub-shower, vanity and a toilet with a separate door complete the second floor. From the second bedroom, there is also access to a roof-top balcony with a nice view over the countryside.
Terms of rental: The weekly rent is: €1,800 in June, July, August and September, €1,400 in April, May, and October and €950 in other months. There are extra charges for rental of sheets and towels, for final cleaning (unless you do it yourself), for electricity (if more than the (generous) base amount is used. Heat is included. The rental period runs from (4:00 p.m.) on a Saturday afternoon until 10:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning. Once you let me know a specific rental period in which you are interested, I will check availability with my client, the owner. Payment terms are a 30% (of the total rent) non-refundable payment at the time of booking with the non-refundable balance due 60 days before scheduled arrival. Payment is to be made to me, and I will transfer it to my client.
